Trowa's Secret

Part 4

I woke with a start. The sudden motion woke Heero. He didn't have time to ask if something was wrong before I quickly climbed over him and dashed for the bathroom. I flung open the toilet seat and fell to my knees on the tiled floor. Not a moment too soon, I started throwing up. I felt as if my entire insides were going to coming through my mouth.

"Damnit Heero. . ." Duo chuckled from inside the room. I guess the sudden movements woke him as well. "I told you to wear a condom. . .now poor Trowa's pregnant." If I wasn't busy throwing my guts up, I would have punched the hell out of that braided bastard. He knew what was going on in my and Heero's relationship. He made it his business to know. . .and he knew that there wasn't any sex. So every chance he got, he made fun of that fact.

I was starting to get weak. So weak I could barely stay kneeling. I fought against it and gripped the sides of the cool ceramic bowl for support. Finally it stopped and I noticed that it was mostly blood that I was vomiting. I quickly wiped my mouth and closed the lid to flush. I couldn't let Heero find out that I was throwing up blood.

"Are you okay?" His caring voice was at the threshold of the room. I only nodded and laid against the shaggy seat cover. He kneeled next to me and felt either of my cheeks, my forehead, and the back of my neck. "You feel warm. You could be coming down with something."

"Make sure you brush your teeth before you speak. No one likes vomit breath." Duo snickered and leaned against the frame of the door.

"That's something you should be use to." Heero was referring, of course, to Duo's alcohol problem. Today was one of few days that he didn't wake up with a hangover.

"Are you going to stay in here all day or what? I gotta piss." Duo stood straight and appeared even more impatient than before. It was rare for him to get on Heero's nerves. Usually it was me that was caught in a verbal bashing contest with him. I guess Heero could tell just how bad I was feeling. I tried to stand up to leave. Thanks to Duo's impatience, I didn't get a chance to fully regain my strength.

I knew I should have stayed the night in my own dorm room, instead of with Heero. I didn't know how I was going to explain this. If I was in my own room, the only one that would have known about this would have been Wu Fei. At least with him, I wouldn't have to make up lies. It was convenient that my Chinese friend happened to be a medical student. After learning about my illness, he's pretty much been taking care of me. Especially since the clinic had it arranged that we become roommates. The new arrangement allowed him to study my day to day behavior pattern.

Since I've donated my body to research, he's been keeping close records of every time I get sick and how serious the illness is. He's also been place in charge of my weekly treatments and checkups. . .mainly because I allow only a select few to get that close to me.

Presently, I leaned against the wall just outside the bathroom door. For right now, it was as far as I could go on my own. Besides, the main thing is that Duo finally shut up and went to the bathroom. My eyes traced Heero's body and I couldn't help but notice that he had grown into an extremely sexy man. He had gotten taller. He now stood at 5'9". His muscles were filling out in all the right places; unlike when we first met and his body seemed too young for its purpose. I, on the other hand, hadn't change too much. I'd only gotten taller and thinner. He turned around to face me, as if sensing that I was gawking at him. His eyes even seemed different. They still held that same determined, stern look, but now. . .now life was starting to emerge from them, making them more beautiful than ever.

Recently the gossip columnist for the school paper took a poll of the students to find out who the sexiest man and woman on campus was. Heero ranked second. . .with Duo being the first for God knows what reason. Just the sight of him now was disturbing to me. Not just because of our history, or our constant silent struggle for Heero. . .but the fact that out of all of us, he's changed the most. His new theme seem to be gothic. He still continues to grow out his hair, but now it's jet black with green highlights. His clothes was a mixture of biker and bondage. He was always wearing leather, rather it be pants, underwear, or shirt, with heavy army boots and usually a spiked dog collar around his neck and wrists.

Lately he's been wearing several chains and rings that resembled weapons more than jewelry. He's also gotten into a habit of painting black lines down his finger nails. Not the whole nail, just one solid line down the middle. His newest obsessions were tattooing and body piercing. His latest tattoo were the words "Get a Grip" in gothic writing arched over his belly ring and a arrow that pointed down the front of his pants. Two weeks ago, he had gotten his tongue pierced, claiming that it enhances oral pleasure.

"Something wrong?" Heero asked softly and I shook my head 'no.' He closed the gap between us and lightly ran his fingertips down my cheek. The simple touch made my body tingle. I've never had that happen to me before Heero.

"I was just thinking?"

"About what?"

"How much everyone's changed. . .especially Duo." I couldn't help but add with a small smirk. The comment even brought a quater of a smile to Heero's lips.

"I heard that." Duo called over the echo of his urinating.

"Then don't eavesdrop." I called back at him. At that, the bathroom door swung open and Duo appeared.
"You haven't brushed your teeth yet. . .so you shouldn't be talking." As he spoke, he toyed with his tongue ring, and I couldn't help but wonder just how much it would hurt if it was suddenly ripped out.

"He's right. You shouldn't be talking." Heero agreed and covered my mouth before I could say anything.

Duo laughed at the fact that Heero was agreeing with him. The next thing I knew, Heero's lips were pressed against my own. I could imagine the look on Duo's face, as I closed my eyes and enjoyed the morning greeting.

Heero pulled away slightly before sliding his tongue into my mouth. I guess he wanted Duo to see that he wasn't worried about morning breath or a vomit one for that matter. I welcomed the new arrival with gentle massaging as Heero snaked his arm around my waist and crushed our bodies together. It's when he done this that I started to wonder if this might be going a little too far.

"You two are a couple of nasty fuckers." Duo blurted, but I ignored him. As long as Heero didn't mind the taste, I wasn't going to complain. He leisurely pulled away and lightly rested his forehead against my own.
"Feeling better?" I nodded and lost myself in his colbat eyes.

"A lot."

"I told you that we should have went for Japanese instead of Chinese." He playfully scolded.

"You guys went out to eat last night?" Duo spun around to face us. I closed my eyes and wished that he would just disappear. Did he ever have any classes? "You didn't bring me anything? Not even a fortune cookie? That's messed up."

"You're going to be late for class." I reminded Heero and he glanced over at the clock. Though I didn't have any classes that day, he had one for the morning.

After Heero had left for class, I headed back to my own room. I found Wu Fei sitting on his bed. I could tell by the look on his face that something was up. He didn't seem to want to acknowledge my entrance. I dropped my book bag on the floor next to the nearest chair and sat across from him on my own bed.

"What's wrong?" I wondered aloud, but he didn't answer. He only held up a newspaper. "Winner Research Foundation finds cure for. . .first phase of fatal virus." As I read the headline, my words slow to a stop. There was a picture of Quatre on the front page in the middle of the article following this headline. "Only the first phase?" I questioned, not really wanting to read the article. Wu Fei solemnly nodded and set the paper down on his bed.

That little bastard found a way out of this. . .somehow I knew he would. Why was I showing resentment toward him? I should be happy for him. Now he wouldn't have to go through what I've been. . .after all, it was my fault that he was infected in the first place. I should feel relieved and happy for the son of a bitch. I leaned forward and buried my face in my hands. This wasn't fair. My emotions were pure for Quatre when I had unknowingly defiled him. . .but I get raped by a drunken bastard out for a good time and I have to die with his legacy.

"I'm sorry Trowa." Wu Fei was only trying to comfort me with words. . .but I didn't want comfort.

"Why?" I snapped and looked back up at him as if it were somehow his fault. "Why should you be sorry? After all, this is a great medical breakthrough, right? I mean, it's going to save millions of people."

"This is just the first step. Who's knows, maybe now that the first phase. . ."

"Don't Wu Fei!. . .just. . .don't. . ." I pushed from the bed and headed for the door. I didn't know where I was going, but I needed to be alone.

"Trowa, wait." I ignored him. What exactly did he want me to wait for?
